Poker Tables Help Create The Perfect Home Game

Shopping around for poker tables so you can host your own game at home?

To help you run a great home poker game, take a look at these tips:

1. Make it as authentic as possible
. Real poker supplies can really help give your home game a great feel. Clay poker chips, professional poker tables, and official poker cards are ideal. For more cost effective options a folding poker table or poker table top, and Nexgen poker chips are great too!

2. Keep the limits reasonable. If you want to keep your gathering friendly, set the limits to something you think everyone will be able to manage without having to sacrifice their grocery or rent budgets. This will keep the game lighter and more friendly.

3. Get 'buy in' from other residents of your home before your start making arrangements. If your spouse, significant other, or roomate are on board ahead of time, it will save you a lot of headaches and will help ensure that the poker game goes without a hitch.

4. Take breaks every once in a while to keep the game fresh. This is also helpful if you want to keep drinks and snacks away from your poker tables.

5. If you are ok with snacking and drinking at your table, consider offering less greasy snacks
. The greasy snacks make handling cards and chips unpleasant.

6. Allow side games. Once players start getting knocked out of your main game, encourage them to start a new side game. It gets boring just standing around watching everyone else play.

How To Take Care of a Poker Table

You just spent some of your hard earned money on a new poker table, so now you want to make sure that it lasts as long as possible. Here are a few simple things you can do to take care of your new purchase.
  1. Keep it covered when it's not in use - A poker table cover is relatively cheap, but it can really help preserve your table. A cover will help prevent sun damage, keep the dust away, and help prevent scuffs and spills from damaging your table when it's not in use

  2. Use a fabric protector - Accidents happen. A good coating of something like Scotchguard can help prevent drink spills and stains from sinking in. Keep a damp cloth handy when your poker table is in use to make sure you can clean up those spills right away before they have a chance to sink in.

  3. Take care when moving your table - Some poker tables are quite heavy. It can be tempting to just push them along the floor when you need to move them around. This could lead to your table catching on anything hard sticking up from your floor like a loose floor nail or carpet staple. This will also put strain on the joints in your table. Picking it up when moving it can save you from a lot of potential damage. If you have a padded rail, just be careful moving your table around corners or other objects as they could end up tearing your rail.

  4. Keep lit cigarettes away from the table - The felt and railing material used on poker tables isn't fire proof. It only takes one smoldering ash to put a burn hole on your table.

  5. Keep it dry if you need to store it - If you need to store your table for a while, try to avoid keeping it in a damp basement or other storage area. This could lead to mold getting into the wood and felt of the table which is very difficult to get rid of.
There you have it. It's not a big list, but if you follow these simple steps, you should get many years of use out of your new table.
